Traxxas TORC R/C Series @ Texas Motor Speedway Race Report

May 15th, Practice Day,

Practice opened at 9am Friday. The track was a little rougher than intended due to the black gumbo used being really hard to lay smooth. The good part of it was there was mega traction whether the track was wet or dry! Racers had to learn how to ease into the cormers or suffer a traction roll. We pushed back the practice races until 6pm to allow late arrivals a chance to get in some practice. Spectator turnout on friday was good considering most of the track time was open practice and we only did announcing during the races at the end of the day.

FTRC GRP Clubmans

FTRC GRP Clubmans

Mirage reports – Sunday 19th October, the Finals of the FTRC GRP Clubmans Series. This was the rescheduled date after the orignal date was rained off due to torrential rain the day and night before, leaving the rack extremely water logged. We arrived at the track on a dry sunday morning, with the morning dew being the only moisture in sight and it looked like we were set for a dry day! ( one of the very few this year!!! ). The format for the day was open practice for around an hour in the morning, then followed by three five minute rounds of timed practice and finally half hour finals across the board. During open practice i ran the GRP Conespikes, i found these provided sufficent side bite and plenty of forward traction. The track dried out extremly quickly and people were using a wide variety of the GRP range. Conespikes, Grips and Atomics appeared to be the popular choice, although i saw people using the Cross tyre aswell. Read more here.

Xray-XT8 Wins German International Race

Xray-XT8 Wins German International Race

Team Xray reports – The international race for nitro-buggies and truggies (scale 1:8) was held this year, as usual, in the halls of Leipzig (Germany) from 03.-05.10.2008 to correspond with the “model hobby and game” trade-fair. Friday and Saturday were used for training and qualification heats. On Sunday, because of many starters, there were only the finals in the timetable. The track consists of quartz-sanded wood panels, which had optimum grip and durability designed for on-road models. With some jump combinations, the desired off-road character was achieved.
